ADBioplastics, a Valencian company specialising in the manufacture and marketing of bio-based and compostable additives and bioplastics, has been selected as one of the 16 international finalists in the Circular Packaging Challenge. This is a programme promoted by Ecoembes and The Circular Lab that seeks innovative solutions to move towards circularity in the packaging sector.
We will compete in Challenge 1, focused on the development of ‘new, more circular packaging’. After a rigorous evaluation process that analysed more than 190 proposals from startups around the world, ADBioplastics has been recognised, along with seven other international startups, for its innovative approach to sustainable biopolymers and its commitment to the circular economy, being the only Spanish startup selected for this challenge.
The final event will take place on 21 November at the Espacio Serrería Belga in Madrid from 9:30am to 1:30pm. During the event, ADBioplastics will present its solution to a jury made up of experts from the sector. Other innovative startups competing in Challenge 1 include Biomyc (Bulgaria), Bockatech (UK), Greenback Recycling Technologies (UK), MacroCycle Technologies (USA), Magnomer (USA), Mi Terro (USA) and Notpla (UK).
In addition, the programme offers a unique networking opportunity with the more than 20 leading companies collaborating in the challenge, including Coca-Cola, Mercadona, Repsol, Galletas Gullón, Mahou San Miguel, Argal Alimentación, CAPSA FOOD, Florette Ibérica, THE SPB GLOBAL CORPORATION and Unilever. These companies will be able to propose the development of pilot projects to test the solutions in a real environment, opening the door to future strategic collaborations.
The selection of ADBioplastics to participate in the Circular Packaging Challenge is a recognition of its work in the development of sustainable plastic alternatives in industries such as food and cosmetic packaging, 3D printing, textiles or agriculture that promote the circular economy and organic recycling.
