Additive ADBio PLA+

Our ADBio PLA+ additive is a multifunctional bio-based and compostable additive that allows us to enhance the properties of virgin PLA.

It is added at a percentage ranging from 5% to 20%, depending on the specific needs of each customer. We offer personalized and consultative sales to ensure the success of each process, accompanying our clients in their industrial trials if required. This technical support is provided by the R&D department, led by doctors in chemistry and bioplastics.

ADBio PLA+ is derived from raw materials obtained from natural and environmentally friendly products. Additionally, this additive serves as the foundation for improving virgin PLA, transforming it into our PLA-Premium, bio-based, and compostable, in accordance with European standard EN 13432.

What is the main competitive advantage of ADBio PLA+?

Our multifunctional additive enhances the mechanical properties of virgin PLA (polylactic acid), improving strength by up to 7 times. This makes it less brittle, while at the same time more processable, maintaining the transparency of fossil plastics such as PET (polyethylene terephthalate) or PP (polypropylene).

ADBio PLA+ is suitable for different end applications such as: flexible and rigid packaging, retail, textile, 3D printing, medical, agriculture, construction and other industries, where processing and conversion technologies and intermediate materials are used.

Improves mechanical properties, toughness, and impact resistance by up to 7 times (PLA is only 3%)
Improves oxygen barrier properties (OTR) and water vapor transmission (WVTR) by up to 25-30% compared to PLA
Processability (MFI). The flowability increases from 30% of virgin PLA to 100%
Maintains the transparency of traditional plastics used in packaging, such as PET, PP, etc.

ADBio PLA+ complies with European legislation on materials in contact with food (FCM) and cosmetic products. Additionally, when blended with virgin PLA, it becomes PLA-Premium, a compostable bioplastic certified OK Compost Industrial by TÜV Austria.
